Mantle Bridge moves supported assets from Ethereum to Mantle Network. A deposit typically takes around two minutes, while a withdrawal to Ethereum can take up to 12 hours and requires a separate claim. You need ETH for Ethereum transaction fees and MNT for Mantle transaction fees, so check both balances before starting.
The bridge moves supported assets between Ethereum and Mantle
The bridge transfers an asset between Ethereum and Mantle Network through a matching token on each chain. For a deposit, the Ethereum bridge contract receives your asset and a corresponding balance becomes available to your wallet on Mantle. A withdrawal reverses that process after the exit is ready to settle on Ethereum.
The Mantle cross-chain bridge is for transferring an asset, not exchanging it for a different one. Its token selector shows which assets you can deposit or withdraw; support depends on the token and the direction. Check the token’s contract and destination version if you plan to use it in another application, because tokens with similar names can have different contracts.
You use the same wallet address on both networks, but each network displays its own balance. Seeing ETH in your wallet on Ethereum does not mean it is already on Mantle. Likewise, ETH received through the bridge on Mantle does not pay ordinary Mantle transaction fees: those require native MNT.
A deposit starts with a wallet transaction on Ethereum
To deposit, connect a wallet holding a supported asset on Ethereum, select Ethereum as the source and Mantle as the destination, then enter the amount. Keep some ETH in that wallet for gas, the fee paid to process an Ethereum transaction. If you are depositing ETH, leave enough behind to pay that fee rather than selecting your entire balance.
Once your wallet shows the right networks, review the token, amount and receiving address. Mantle Bridge lets you send the selected asset through the canonical bridge contracts when you confirm the deposit in your wallet. The Mantle Network bridge uses a specific token mapping, so check which version will arrive before you sign.
For example, say you want to deposit 0.05 ETH. You select ETH, enter 0.05, inspect the wallet’s gas estimate and confirm only if your remaining Ethereum balance covers the transaction. After Ethereum confirms it and Mantle processes the deposit message, switch your wallet to Mantle to check the new balance; allow longer than the usual two minutes when Ethereum is busy.
A token other than ETH may require two Ethereum transactions: an approval, which gives the bridge contract permission to use a specified amount, and the deposit itself. Both can cost ETH in gas. An approved transaction alone has not moved your tokens, so wait for the deposit confirmation before looking for them on Mantle.
A withdrawal ends with a claim on Ethereum
To withdraw, select Mantle as the source, Ethereum as the destination, and an asset supported in that direction. Start the withdrawal with a Mantle transaction paid for in MNT. Your Ethereum balance will not increase as soon as that transaction confirms; the withdrawal must first pass through Mantle’s settlement process.
Mantle Bridge shows the withdrawal in its history, where you can return to check when the next action is available. Mantle’s bridge FAQ says withdrawals can take up to 12 hours. Its newer network documentation describes validity proofs rather than the older seven-day challenge period, so use the status of your actual withdrawal instead of treating either old timing claims or a countdown as a guarantee.
When the withdrawal is ready, switch your wallet to Ethereum and submit the separate claim transaction. That claim costs ETH on Ethereum, even if the asset you are withdrawing is ETH: the pending funds cannot pay their own claim fee. Keep ETH in the claiming wallet before you start, or arrange it before you attempt the claim.
Gas and transfer status explain most surprises
The cost depends chiefly on the transactions you need and the gas price when you send them. A deposit uses Ethereum gas, with another Ethereum fee if token approval is needed. A withdrawal uses MNT to start on Mantle and ETH to claim on Ethereum; review each wallet estimate before confirming, since a small transfer can be poor value when Ethereum gas is high.
If a balance seems missing, first switch to the destination network and check the receiving address. Then compare the transaction shown in bridge history with your wallet activity: an approval, a deposit and a withdrawal claim are separate actions. If the destination transaction has completed but the token is absent from your wallet display, check its verified contract mapping before adding it manually.
Choose a supported token, reserve gas on both networks and follow each transaction through to the destination balance; for a withdrawal, finish the Ethereum claim.
